ABOUT ROCK’N’ROAM

WELL HEY THERE, WELCOME TO ROCK’N’ROAM.

I’m Rae, the “blogger”, “website owner”, “content creator”… Whatever the fuck you want to call it, I’m the one running this blog/site/thing.

If you want to read a nice little post on the creation of this site, check out the first blog post I made.

But to sum it up, I’m a Canadian metal head filled with wanderlust and this is the spot for all my ramblings about music, travel, and my personal favourite – music travel.

Late to the game of travelling (better late than never), I’ve spent the last several years rocking and roaming around our fine planet. Most of the time I end up at some sort of festival, concert, or sometimes even on tour with a band. When I’m not doing that I’m just walking around exploring for hours on end. It’s a great balance for all the eating and drinking I do and I usually end up back home with some pretty toned legs, bonus.

You’ll often find me visiting new places or going to shows alone. “Alone Rae? That’s sad,” you may be thinking to yourself. But please keep your pity. It was because of solo travel that I ended up on a tour bus as part of a Trivium tour, or ended up selling merch for Ghost across Europe. I highly suggest everyone try solo travelling at least once. It may be overwhelming, but it’s definitely rewarding. At the very least, you can say you left your comfort zone and did it. And life may surprise you with some awesome stuff.
Music travel, Birmingham

Music travel, Iron Maiden

Sometime in 2023 I started picking up a camera on a regular basis and photographing shows. Music photography is always something I’ve been really interested in but thought wasn’t something I could do. I didn’t know how, I couldn’t afford it, blahblahblah. But I decided to pick up a second hand camera and just start doing it and well, it’s been going just fine so far.

On this site I’ll be sharing stories of my travels and offering some hopefully helpful information. From how to visit London on a small budget, and scoring tickets for sold out concerts and expensive plays (I got a front row centre seat for a play starring Dominic Cooper for less than $20 where one of his scenes included flirting with me. BEST TWENTY DOLLARS SPENT), to how to prepare yourself for your first Wacken festival. I’ll share my reviews on other festivals, my photo galleries of bands, and really whatever else I fancy!

I’ll also be sharing my experiences at various concerts, festivals, and music events. Expect a lot of metal. Not all, I’ve got varied tastes, but heavily metal. Heavily heavy metal.

So thanks for coming by. Subscribe if you’d like, shoot me an email if you want, follow on social media if it tickles your fancy. And keep on rockin’ you beautiful people.

See you in the pit.
